At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point:

- As the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of the school--not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects.
- As the daughter of the new principal, Elise Benton isn't exactly on everyone's must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list.

When Elise's beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince's best friend, Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of every girl on campus. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only so long.

First Line: The front office wasn't as crazy as you'd expect on the first day of school, which seemed to confirm Coral Tree Prep's reputation as "a well-oiled machine."

ReviewEpic Fail was a fun light quick read, I read this in a matter of hours and found it to be a great "in between" book, you know the kind you read to take a break from all the serious stuff.

Elise is witty and intelligent, I liked how she had a realistic family although her mom was just a little over the top too annoying at times. As for the romance between Derek and Elise it was cute I don't really know how else to describe it.

What I didn't care for was how abruptly things ended and I guess I was just hoping for a little more complex characters. Also I found it to be pretty predictable but I'm not going to really complain much about that since I was looking for a light read and from my reading experience most light fluff books are predictable but still fun to read.

  1. I really liked this book. It was light and fluffy ad just fun! I get what you mean when you said it ended abruptly. It was kind of weird. On the authors website I think she wrote a short story about the characters a couple of months after. But I'm not 100% sure. Good review though!

  2. I really want to read this book-- probably the only modern P&P retelling I'm willing to read! Nice review.
