Review: This is a tough one for me there were some aspects I really liked about Born at Midnight such as the camp filled with teens who are either some sort of supernatural being or have some type of supernatural gift. Such as Kylie who can see ghosts. I also found it interesting how the government was actually involved and they knew about the camp and even held authority over it.
What made me bring the rating down is there was way too much boy drama in it for me. There is the ex-boyfriend Trey who broke up with Kylie because she wouldn't have sex with him but now all of a sudden wants her back. Then there is Derek the Fae who has a thing for Kylie and Lucas the werewolf who has got it bad for her as well. Not to mention Kylie has already had kissing sessions with each of the boys. Also it's the typical "oh I don't know who I like more" syndrome with her. Another thing that bugged me a little was Kylie in general, she is so much in denial about the fact that she is gifted that she rather believe she has a mental disorder or a tumor. Then there was the fact that throughout the entire book we are trying to still figure out what she is, eventually it just got old and I was more annoyed then anything.
Minus the boy drama...and Kylie's denial this was a fairly quick read. What made the book enjoyable as far as the characters go were Kylie's friends Della and Miranda they had a way of keeping things lively. Also I liked Perry he is some powerful shape-shifter but whenever he was involved something hilarious went down.
Overall I have no intentions on picking up the next book in the series. Maybe if I cared about the main character more and who she will end up with in the end but since I don't I wont be reading Awake at Dawn anytime soon.
