Blog Tour: Interview with Christine Fonseca

I would like to welcome Christine Fonseca to Book Flame

                                                                      1. What inspired you to write LACRIMOSA?

So many things, really. But mostly it was the love story between the two main characters. There is something timeless and epic about it all. Like Romeo and Juliet, only with angels and demons.

2. What character intrigued you the most as the author? And why?

Nesy was certainly the hardest for me to write, but Aydan was the most interesting for me. He is complex, multi-dimensional; a good man buried underneath so much evil. Very intriguing to write.

3. Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

The series really explores the tenants of good and evil, love and duty, sacrifice and redemption. These are the “big ideas” I hope the reader ponders while reading the story.

4. Do you have any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?

I have so much going on and it is all so exciting. First, I have the series to finish (and there are some surprises in store with that). After that a secret project I can’t wait to share, as well as a nonfiction project in the works. And finally, I have a couple of thrillers and a spin-off series in the hopper – pretty exciting!!!

5. How old were you when the writing bug hit you?

I started writing stories when I was in grade school. In fact, I distinct remember writing a myth in Kindergarten. But I really didn’t write with the idea of publishing until recently.

6. Which fictional character would you most like to meet?

This is a tough one, but I think I would love to meet Katniss from Hunger Games and see if she is as I imagine her to be. Or Harry Potter. Or Lyra Belacqua.

7. What was your favorite novel/series when you were growing up?

I had several – The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Shakespeare (yes, I started reading Shakespeare in third grade with Macbeth), Where the Red Fern Grows, A Wrinkle in Time – so many!

8. If you could travel back in time and meet yourself as a 10 year old what advice would you give?

I would tell myself to stop taking myself (and the world) so seriously. Make time to laugh and have fun. Make time to delight in the nothingness of a day. Make time to celebrate being alive. These are things I have spent a lifetime trying to teach myself.

9. What is the one quote that inspires you above all others?

“The story I am writing exists, written in absolutely perfect fashion, some place, in the air. All I must do is find it and copy it.” – Jules Renard (“Diary”, February 1895)

About the book

ISBN: 0984786368 (ISBN 13: 9780984786367)

Blurb:
As if casting out demons isn’t hard enough, five-hundred-year-old Nesy has to masquerade as a teenage girl to do it. Nesy is the best of the warrior angels called Sentinals. She never makes mistakes, never hesitates, never gets emotionally involved. Until she meets Aydan.

He is evil incarnate; a fallen angel that feeds off the souls of others. Everything Nesy is supposed to hate. But she can’t, because he’s also the love of her former life as a human girl—a life that ended too soon, tying her to emotions she was never supposed to feel.

Now Nesy must choose between doing her duty—damning Aydan to the fiery depths of hell—or saving him, and condemning herself.

“LACRIMOSA reaches out, grabs readers by the heart, and takes them on an emotional journey from the first page to the last. The last novel you’ll need to read to understand true sacrifice.”

~Elana Johnson, Author of POSSESSION
