13 Day's of Halloween Madness: Interview with Lisa Sanchez

Welcome to Book Flame's 13 days of Halloween Madness!

Today I would like to welcome Lisa Sanchez author of the Hanaford Park Series for joining us here at  Book Flame.

Interview

1.Do you research real events, legends or myths to get ideas?

Yes! When an idea for a story hits me, I always dive in first with research. It's during research for my characters that I usually find interesting myths, legends etc. that I like to incorporate into the stories after twisting them and making them my own. For example, In Eve Of Samhain, I knew I wanted to make my hero a supernatural creature that was different. I also knew he was Irish. I did a search for mythological creatures, looking specifically for something with an Irish background and stumbled across the legend of The Gancanagh. The rest, as they say, is history.

2.What inspired you to write your first novel?

I've been writing creatively since I was a child. It's always been a passion of mine, but not something I had time to pursue until my youngest started attending school full time. After reading, and falling in love with the Twilight series, the writing bug bit me in a big way. I entered a writing contest, and the piece I sent in was a small piece from Eve Of Samhain. I loved the story so much I knew I had to finish it.

3.How old were you when the writing bug hit you?

Very young, lol. I remember being a cub reporter for my second grade class.

4. Do you have any novels in the works? Goals for future projects?

Yes! Book three in my Hanaford Park series is currently on submission. I've also begun writing a new series, The Order Of Seven, which features a set of very Alpha Greek mythological warriors who shift into different forms. The first in the series, Cursing Athena, is also on submission, and I'm currently knee deep into the second book which is tentatively titled, Hell On Heels.

5.Would you rather walk through a graveyard at midnight or spend the night in a spooky abandoned house?

Can I choose neither? I might write about paranormal beings, but in real life I'm a complete and total wimp. I scare easily, lol!  I suppose, if forced to choose, I'd go with the abandoned house. At the very least, it would provide shelter from the outdoors. I'm sort of an indoor girl, lol.

6.Do you dress up for Halloween? If yes what are you going to be this year?

Not usually. My family has been invited to a Halloween party this year, so if my hubby can get the time off, then yes, I'll be dressing up. I've absolutely no clue what to dress up as. Have you seen some of the costumes they put out lately? They all require the wearer to be a size 0 with enormous boobs. I'm guessing I'll be the gal in the back wearing the M&M costume because it has more coverage haha!

7.What was the first horror story you remember reading?

I've actually been thinking about this particular question a lot lately. I have several vivid memories from when I was in elementary school (third garde, I think) of searching for scary books in the school library. I was intrigued by all things paranormal even at a young age. I remember reading a ghost story (cannot for the life of me remember the title) and being so creeped out after I couldn't sleep. That's a good book!

8. Have you ever visited a haunted house?

No. I'd probably pee myself out of sheer terror!

9.What is your favorite scary movie?

Signs. Yeah, yeah... Most people probably wouldn't count that as a "scary" movie. Thing is, it scared the piss out of me (not literally) and I thought about it for days after watching it. It still gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

10. Do you have any fun Halloween experiences you can tell us about?

You mean like eating candy until I felt sick, or trick or treating in the ritzy end of town that gave away the big candy bars instead of the usual bite-sized crap? I've had plenty of those type of Halloween experiences. As far as anything scary or truly frightening, I'm sad to say, I don't have diddly.Gosh...I guess that makes me a little boring, lol. Dammit! I better start ghost hunting or something.

Thank you for stopping by Book Flame, It was great fun interviewing you.

Hanaford Park Series

Eve of Samhain( Hanaford Park #1)
"As a college senior and server at Hanaford Park's hottest nightclub, twenty-one year old Ryann Pierce's plan was simple: work hard, make lots of money, and avoid the ass-grabbers at all costs. What she never planned for was Quinn Donegan—the living, breathing advertisement for sinful behavior that waltzed into her life.

With an angelic face, a hard body and a butt-load of charm, Quinn had a way with the ladies—a lot of ladies. Cursed with a deadly, addictive touch, his trail of indiscretion blazed across five hundred years. Tired and jaded, Ryann is a shocking revelation Quinn didn't see coming.

Filled with desire, yet unable to touch one another, Ryann and Quinn embark on a daunting journey, battling frustrating physical limitations while exploring their new love. In a race against the clock, Ryann learns she must plead for Quinn's life before…the Eve of Samhain. Determined to end her lover's suffering, not even the danger dogging her every move can keep her from her mission.

Pleasures Untold (Hanaford Park #2)
"Hell hath no fury like a witch done wrong. Pissed off and packing an arsenal of witchy mojo, Martha is on the warpath. Determined to avenge the murder of her mother and grandmother, her mission is simple: kill every vampire, demon and underworld bastard she comes across, because one of those hell beasts might be the monster that stole her childhood from her. But when a sexy Latin vamp literally falls from the sky, saving her from becoming an undead Happy Meal, she has no choice but to reassess everything she thinks she knows.

Xan is an anomaly --a vampire born, not turned. A powerful warlock who walks in daylight, Xan spends his days, and nights, watching over Martha, protecting her from Lucian, the blood-sucking monstrosity whose sole mission in death is to drain her dry. Undeniable attraction and the promise of pleasures untold draw the two lovers into a frustrating dance of one step forward, two steps back. When Lucian throws down a deadly ultimatum, Martha is forced to choose between relying on her own mystical woo woo to save the lives of her stolen friends or succumbing to the lure of dark, voodoo magic. Xan and Martha must work together to save those closest to her and put an end to Lucian's reign of terror before it's too late.
