Interview and Giveaway with T.L James

TL James graduated with an MBA from LeTourneau University. At LETU, James cultivated an interest in biblical studies and research. Little did James know, but her love for research would become an integral thread in her writing style.

After many sleepless nights, James began writing her first speculative fictional book, with her newly born son tucked comfortably at her side.  She developed the family drama storyline that showcases her love of research, biblical studies and literary classics (i.e., Chaucer, Shakespeare and Mythology). The MPire Trilogy was born.

In 2008, TL James revived PHE Ink, a Writing Solutions Firm, after discovering a number of gaps in the publishing industry.  James works with aspiring writers, one-on-one, to develop their literary voice. PHE Ink, also, assists entrepreneurs with transforming their business dreams into defined objectives and business plans.

TL James currently resides in Houston, Texas with her son and immediate family.

Today I have the pleasure of welcoming T.L James author of The Mpire In Search Of The Lost....

What inspired you to write The MPire: In Search of the Lost?
I was laid-off with my two-month-old son. Day in and day out, I was watching meaningless television. One day, I unplugged the television and dared myself to write something better  thus The MPire was created.

Is there a message in your book that you want readers to grasp?
There’s so much I’d like the readers to take away from this story. Thus, simply put while reading The MPire: In Search of the Lost, readers will see a normal family headed by educated men that love their wives and they protect their family’s history. They know their roots and they’ll go through great lengths to ensure the fate of the world is right, though sometimes it may seem unjust.

If The MPire: In Search of the Lost became a movie who would you want to star as Mallory Towneson Haulm?
(I am so glad someone finally asked me this question!!! I hope you don’t mind if I add to this question.) I pictured Christopher Colquhoun or Michael Ealy to play Mallory Haulm, but you can’t get the full effect of the story if you don’t have the other characters.
i. Brothers: Marc - Lamman Rucker; Marek – Richard T. Jones; Marlon – Anthony Anderson; Mallory – Michael Ealy
ii. Matthew - Boris Kodjoe;
iii. Uncles: Uncle Mal - James Pickens Jr; Malcolm – Gary Dourdan; Uncle Myron - Michael Clarke Duncan/ Ving Rhames
iv. Women: Melody - Jenifer Lewis; Stacy - Christina Millan; Natasha - Malinda Williams; Brielle/Elektra - Thandie Newton

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book?
There is no other speculative fiction story out there like The MPire: In Search of the Lost by TL James an enchanted journey into Mallory Haulm’s world.

Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
I want to be the stunt double for the sex scenes!

If you were stranded on an island with only three of your favorite books what would they be?
Mythical Book – I loved studying about different myths – Greek, Roman, Norse or Chinese, etc.
Self Help Book – Life is about continuous improvement.
Good Dictionary – The one thing I hate is stopping a good writing flow because I am too left-brain dead to spell a word.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
The MPire Trilogy—In Search of the Lost, Death Cometh, The Trinity— This speculative fiction chronicles the life of the protagonist; his reluctant acceptance of his charge as Death, the forth horseman of the Apocalypse. Ripped from the pages of Revelations, the audience is pulled into an enchanted world where one is not quite sure of what to expect.
o The MPire: In Search of the Lost an enchanted journey into Mallory Haulm’s world, as he faces the ultimate reign of power of biblical proportions filled with family drama and corporate greed.
o The MPire: Death Cometh: Mallory Haulm’s world unravels to expose life-shattering secrets that move heaven and earth. While Mallory struggles to become Death, his Dad won’t relinquish control. Who will survive?
o The MPire Chronicles of the Haulm: Four sons of the Haulm family (the Four Horsemen) are responsible for keeping the balance of power between Angels and Humans. As humans, however, they must balance their own lives, conquer their own demons and battle one another for dominance.

Thank you for stopping by and joining us at Book Flame.

About the novel:
In Search of the Lost is the story of Mallory Towneson Haulm, a sexy financial powerhouse, who lives in a quasi paradise in Austin, Texas. His opulent world is decorated with expensive toys and women more exquisite than an exotic candy shop.

After fourteen years of separation from his family, Mallory is summoned to return home to join The Family Business. Poised for success, Mallory is focused on turning around the ailing business, not realizing that taking his assigned reigns will put him in a position of unrelenting power which he is unaware he even has. His world crashes as he reunites with his brothers and becomes Death, the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse.

With every complication popping up in his life, the biggest one by far is in the form of an old lover from the past coming back to reclaim the spot in Mallory's heart.
