In New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh’s newest contemporary romance, passion ignites between a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man who built himself up from nothing and a shy woman who has a terrible secret in her past…
Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred.
And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.
Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO—a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake—clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom.
If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.
First Line:"Charlotte closed the final updated folder with a smile."
Review: Why was I not aware Nalini Singh is writing contemporary! Rock Hard is actually the second book in her Rock Kiss series, I have not read the first book but seeing how Rock Hard was about a completely different couple it didn't make much of a difference, although I do wish I knew more about Molly's situation ( character from the first book ) she is Charlie's best friend so we do see quite a bit of her in Rock Hard.
Gabriel is a very very patient man. He had an idea of what happened in Charlie's past so he took his sweet time breaking down Charlie's walls and I loved him so much for that. Charlie lives in a world of fear which prevents her from really living. She hasn't healed from the damage done to her in the past and she likes to stay invisible. Charlie was an admirable character. She is a survivor, for her to go through the hell she went through she had a lot of inner-strength which even she didn't know she had until Gabriel her T-Rex of a boss brought it out of her. I really liked Charlie but Gabriel was the star of this book he was just really the perfect alpha male who went for what he wanted which made him the success that he was but he was also so caring and loyal I couldn't get enough of him.
The romance was sweet. Like I said it took awhile before things got hot and steamy between the two but the lead up to it was so very fun. I highly enjoyed the banter between them especially the more Charlie broke out of her mousey shell the more I loved them together. Things did get pretty serious towards the second half or so of the book when it concentrated more on Charlie and her past along with Gabriel and his father issues.
Overall Rock Hard had everything I enjoy in a contemporary romance. Even now I'm still swooning over Gabriel.
