Review: Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill

Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill

Meant to be or not meant to be . . . that is the question.

It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quite another to fall for the—gasp—wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her, well, pocket. And that's also why she's chosen Mark Bixford, her childhood crush, as her MTB ("meant to be").

But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: to be thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class-clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts . . . from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to break a few rules along the way. And thus begins a wild goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.

Because sometimes the things you least expect are the most meant to be.

First Line: There are certain things in life that just suck.

ReviewI did not expect to love Meant to Be as much as I did, this book was just downright awesome.

Okay so Julia is one of those uptight, very punctual always making sure to follow the rules type of girl and she is on her way to an educational trip to London with a bunch of kids from her school that she has nothing in common with. They end up having to buddy up and she gets stuck with Jason the one person she was hoping to avoid the most out of the whole trip.

I can't begin to explain how much I loved this book.  The author did a wonderful job describing London.. it's streets and all the places they visited that I felt like I was there having the same experiences.

Besides the setting the characters were just very likeable. Even though normally a character like Julia would bug me a little I found myself loving her personality, she wasn't boring or dull she was actually very witty and entertaining to read about. Then there was Jason who got Julia to get out of her little bubble and have an adventure, discover London without a guide book and just break loose from all the rules. Jason was the guy who is the class clown but everyone loves him and he hangs with the populars. And he had his moments of being immature and annoying but when he wanted to he could turn on the charm and make a girl swoon. Another thing I really loved reading was the banter between the two the way the two went at it was just page flipping amusing.

Overall Meant to Be is a must read it's a romance yet so much more.

Memorable Qoutes: ~“I need to experience books, not just read them.”
