"Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior. ."

First Sentence: I've been locked up for 264 days."
Review: Wow...just Wow! A five star rating wont even do Shatter Me any justice. It deserves so much more than that.
Captivating, seductive, beautiful and the list goes on and on and on when it comes to describing Tahereh Mafi's writing. Shatter Me was original and just breathtaking. All the hype around it is so very well deserved.
We are hurled into Juliette's world from the beginning. There is no slow build up on how her world has come to be...we are literally thrown into the mix of things. Starting with Juliette being locked up for 264 days because to the world she is a monster. One single touch from her can kill. I'm not going to say much more about her situation because I refuse to give up any spoilers for such a phenomenal book.
Juliette's character was fascinating. I've never met a character like her. She made my heartbreak within the first few chapters. I felt for her. I felt her pain.
Now as far as the love interest - Adam Kent...talk about major swoon. Adam is protective, strong, loyal, caring. Sexy is the word that comes to mind when describing Adam and Juliette's relationship. I also like the fact that Adam is actually from Juliette's childhood and has been searching for her since she was taken away and locked up.
As far as all the other characters go, major and minor they all had a purpose. We are introduced to a handful of characters in the last few chapters as well, but it's obvious they were a set up for the next book in the series.
Overall: Amazing, Amazing, Amazing. This is a must read. Do not pass this up this is by far one of the best novels I've read all year.
Awesome review dying to read this book I hope I get it soon.
