I have a pretty crazy day today...taking the kids to get their last series of shots than a dinner party later this evening and also visiting my parents for a while...Hectic...so a quick book teaser will have to do for today.
I just finished up reading The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter due to release on April 19 of this year so here is a couple of snippets from the book. Enjoy!
I will have the review up next Tuesday.
"It's always been just Kate and her mom--and now her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.
Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.
Kate is sure he's crazy--until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess."
"So you die." The gravity of the situation hit me hard, and I stared off to the side, unable to look at him. It wasn't just my mother's life that was riding on my ability to pass these tests.
"I fade" he corrected. "The living die, and their souls remain in the Underworld for eternity. However, my kind do not have souls. We cease to exist completely, without a shred of our former selves remaining. One cannot die if one was never alive to begin with."
"Eleven girls are already dead beacause of you. Don't turn Kate into the twelfth because of your selfishness."
