"There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce—and goes out of his way to make that very clear—she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.
Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, Fallen is a page turning thriller and the ultimate love story."

A quick review since I never did one on the book.

From the beginning Daniel searched for her. Every seventeen years he knew she would come back. But their love was doomed one kiss and she was gone. Dead. Only to be reborn again with no recollection of her past lives. She's been around for thousands of years.Reincarnating over and over again. Eventually Daniel stopped looking for her. She found him. Yet the cycle still remained unbroken,he would lose her again and again. Him an immortal never forgetting and her a human never remembering.Always coming together only to be torn apart...until now.

17 year old Luce sees things that no one else can. Shadows. She never understood them therefore causing her to fear them, yet she went on with her life since it never got too close to her. Until the day a mysterious fire happened and it took a life. Ever since that night things changed, the people she knew looked her differently with fear, blame even her parents looked her with questioning eyes. She was sent away.

Her first day at Sword and Cross reform school she "met" a boy. Daniel stood out to her, maybe because he wasn't wearing the dress code with that red scarf he had on. Or maybe because when she gazed over at him he flipped her off. Daniel was distant, mean, yet almost enchanting to Luce. She just could not get enough of him. She wanted to know more about him.She felt that they had met before, yet no matter how many times he said they never met before she just didn't believe him.

Cam another key character in the book has eyes only for Luce as well. He is the complete opposite of Daniel.Yet whenever he gets Luce alone Daniel appears out of nowhere.I'm not going to give any spoilers but I truly loved the interaction between Cam and Daniel.Kate had me guessing for quite some time and had me thinking why is Luce infatuated with Daniel if there is this hot guy completely falling for her is she crazy! Daniel was rude to Luce on many occasions and I guess the woman in me was getting upset on how she would just keep chasing after him. When everything unraveled only then did I understand why Daniel acted the way he did and ended up in love with his character.

Fallen is a story of an age old battle. A battle that has been tested since the beginning of time. The fate of all eternal souls resting in the hands of star crossed lovers.

Lauren Kate took her time developing the characters which is why you can say the book started off a little slow. Fallen opens up with a prologue looking into one of Luce and Daniel's past encounters, then the first chapter thrusts you forward into present day Luce creating more of a mystery around her making you even more intrigued to know what happened in her past.

I love how she didn't give it all away and kept me guessing through the whole book all the way even to the end leaving many questions unanswered. I finished this book in a day and a half. I found myself reading this till 4 in the morning. Any book that can capture my attention to that extent deserves a 5 star rating. Unfortunately I can't ignore the fact of how irritated I got when she kept chasing Daniel around so I'm going to knock it down to a 4.5  fair and square.
