Waiting on Wednesday: The Taker by Alma Katsu

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday

A weekly event that puts a spotlight on a book we are eagerly waiting to be released.

The Taker by Alma Katsu
Publish Date: UK: April 2011/US: September 2011
Hardcover:352pages

I am in love with the UK cover to this book..maybe even a little obsessed hence the reason I also had it as my cover of the week. As for the US cover although it is slightly haunting i'm not a fan of it.
U.S. Cover
I'm pretty sure i'll be buying the UK version to this book just for this gorgeous cover. Yes this is one of those where the cover attracted me to find out more about the book and I like what I read as far as the synopsis off of goodreads goes...

Described as an "epic supernatural romance," The TAKER combines historical fiction with a supernatural element for a dark romantic story that's "astonishing... heartbreaking and magical."

In the novel, set in the 19th century, a girl from northern Maine falls for and gets impregnated by a wealthy local out of her social league. When she flees to Boston to have the baby, she gets swept up by a group of immortal beings, and a tricky love triangle develops after the leader of the undying crew falls for her and gives her everlasting life.
